Unworthy
Sometimes it is driven home to me the insane-ness of trying to explain unexplainable things.
I am currently working on a series of Bible reflections for children. Some I have already used in my own Religious Ed classroom, and the rest I try on my own guinea children. The one I am currently working on is [...]Vocations
This evening at Mass (yes - I know it was Saturday…it counts! I already had to explain this once to my son today, who reminded us that God wanted us to go to church on Sunday, his holy day, not Saturday!) Anyways.. oh, yes! This evening at Mass, our priest, Fr. Tony, gave an excellent [...]
The Wonderful World of Sports?
With three boys, I am understandably interested in sports.
Neither my husband nor I are what you would call “athletic”. After growing up with a father and two brothers who were sports addicts, it was refreshing to marry a man whose dinner was not ruined by a loss of the local football team. However, after the birth of [...]Grocery Store Blues
The three boys and I arrived home from Religious Ed classes last night tired and hungry. Hubby and I dredged the bottom of the pantry and managed to find something for dinner. However, when the boys poured the last drop of milk into their cereal bowls this morning, I had to admit defeat - it was time [...]
Maria von Trapp Was Lucky
Remember the scene in “The Sound of Music” when all the kids gather in Maria’s room during a storm? It is her first night there, and she gamely sings a song to distract the children’s minds from the wind, thunder, and lightening. They dance, sing, and laugh until Captain von Trapp shows up and demands [...]
Music and Madness
I love music. Classical, country, Christian, alternative, oldies - I listen to ‘em all. I sing (actually get paid for it at times), play piano, play flute, play guitar, write music, taught a choir. Like I said, big fan of music.
So, how come music is driving me to the edge of madness now?
Children learning instruments. [...]Heroes, Capes, and Superpowers, Pt 2
So, hopefully you are on the edge of your seat wondering, “I am reading a blog by a someone with real superpowers”. (If you have no clue what I mean, you obviously did not read part one. You are excused. Go read and come back when you are done.)
Yes, I have superpowers. Sadly, I often [...]Heroes, Capes, and Superpowers, Part 1
About a month ago, my youngest son was enrolled in swimming lessons for the first time. He loved them! He took to it, well….like a duck to water. One day after lessons, he met me poolside with a transcendent glow on his face.
“Mom,” he exclaimed in a whisper.
Clearly, this was something big.
“I have a superpower,” [...]Reflection on Easter
Today is Holy Thursday, the first day of Triduum. Easter is a mere three days away. Are you preparing?
Here is a reflection in the Easter story by my youngest, age 5:
“Easter is when they took God, put him on a cross, and he died. Then they took him down, wrapped him up real tight, and [...]A Little Self-Promo
Oh, it is very warm today! Blech! April 3, and the AC is running lots and I am dreading summer.
Just a little self-promotion here. You can access my articles for my former “Faith of a Child” site on a link to the right of this site. They are worth looking at.
